WEATHER REPORT: TYPICAL (DRY) SPRING WEATHER

Monday's sunset. (Photo by Eden Baker)
There were no real surprises in the weather this week. It was dry again, but that’s nothing new, and other aspects of the weather were pretty normal for this time of year. Wednesday and Thursday’s highs in the mid-seventies were followed by the year’s warmest day so far—85°F. I managed to get through the day without turning on the air conditioner in the house, but I used the one in the car all afternoon.

Then on Saturday a cold front moved in that dropped the afternoon temperatures into the forties accompanied by a strong north wind that made it feel colder than that. After the mid-eighties of the day before, it was unpleasant to be out in the wind. Sunday temperatures weren’t any higher than Saturday, but they felt warmer because the wind had died down considerably. Monday was warmer with sunshine and a high of 62°, and yesterday warmed up to 73° in midday before cooling off some in the afternoon. The high temperature for the week was Thursday’s 85°, and the low was 31° on Sunday morning.

The forecast for today is for sunny skies, strong south winds, and a high of about 77°. Highs will reach 82° tomorrow and 83° Friday with lows in the mid-fifties. Then on Saturday the meteorologists are giving us a 60% chance of rain, which, if it happens, will indeed be welcome since we’ve been lacking in that department lately. Highs will be around 80° with lows in the fifties through the weekend.
